I found a great idea for making homemade petifores.  It is so simple.  Buy or make a pound cake.  Cut the pound cake into small squares (the size of petifores).  Spoon storebought icing into a bowl or mug and heat in the mircowave for 10-15 seconds.  Using a fork dip each square into the heated icing, be sure to cover the entire square.  Remove and place on wax paper until the icing hardens.  Be sure to keep the icing somewhat thin (reheat it if you have to).  If it is too thick it will crush the cake.  You can add food coloring to the icing to make it red or pink and add red or pink sprinkles as well.  Set them on mini cupcake tins and it makes a really cute and yummy Valentines Day treat.
